I thought this book was even better than book one. The story picks up five months after those events. On the personal front, it's bad. Aiden has backed off, and told Jamie they can only be casual lovers, not exclusive. Proving the hold these characters have on me, I wanted to shake Aiden till his teeth rattled. Jamie is still keeping secrets about his investigation of Tom and Gabe, too. In the midst of their personal crisis, they get put undercover with a NC college team, where Jamie will play himself, as a coach. Thrust back into his old life, Jamie finds himself in the path of his first love, Derrick, who he walked away from eight years before.This investigation was more easy to follow and solid than in the first book, focused on the team members and college admin. Aiden plays a sports agent and also is a little bit of a honey trap. He's also forced to experience a little of what Jamie's been feeling, since Derrick is putting the moves on Jamie...and there's a bit of temptation there. Aiden finally realizes he can't prevent what's already happened to his heart and the I love you's are finally exchanged! But the case they're on still has to wrap up and so the danger and suspense increase. Aside from that, Jamie wants to come clean to Aiden about his search on his deceased husband, when yet another twist happens at the end.
We are left in greater suspense than ever but fortunately book 3 is almost out and we'll get to see if Aiden can withstand the secrets and revelations. Fantastic romantic suspense!

Well, I love these characters and I read this book in an afternoon, but I had to suspend more disbelief than I did for the first book of the series. The sexytimes are super hot (though they are fewer and farther between), and the chemistry is still great between the MCs, but the plot felt overly complicated. The cyber gambling has an added drug connection (why was that necessary?), and I find it impossible to believe that the bad people/villains in the book would purposefully involve Jamie in the hacking knowing that he was (ex) FBI. I never figured out if the university chancellor was involved. And one of the people involved had a lame reason, at best. It all happens at a breakneck speed.
The secondary plot that ties all three books together is also getting more convoluted, and I was a bit confused at the very end with the news about Mel. Also, Jamie and Aidan somehow got stupider since the first book because they are sexual/affectionate with each other in places where they can be seen/caught (which of course comes back to bite them).
There were a lot of secondary characters (almost too many.) There were a few times where I wasn't sure who was who. At one point, Aidan says they need to go to meet with Ethan and I was like, "who the heck is Ethan?"
I loved how Aidan was forced to reevaluate his definition of and adherence to "casual." (Oh, but something early in the book made me angry at him and his treatment of Jamie). The first book (and second) was a lot about Aidan's growth. But Jamie grows in Cask Strength, too.
Despite my quibbles, I loved the book, and I pre-ordered the third right away. I'm looking forward to the resolution of Aidan and Jamie's story and anything else that Reyne writes.

Whiskey and Irish are becoming an addicting couple. I'm dreading starting the next book knowing it's the last. Or is it?? Someone make me happy and say there's more to come. LOL
I was afraid that this book was going to suffer the terrible two's. You know, when book number two isn't as good as the first. But I'm happy to say it kept up the same steam as the first book. I did rate this one higher just for the fact Irish finally caved and Whiskey (who I love) got his happy. Well, his happy for now cause if you read this book then you know that happy is about to blow up in our guys' faces with the secret Jamie has been keeping from Aiden. I feel like this is unnecessary, but needed drama and that Melissa should be the one Aiden should be angry with. She is the boss after all who told Jamie he was to keep mum about it all. But then again the story needs its drama to keep us in the story. I just would like to spend the next book with them loved up instead of being separated for any amount of time considering they have been this way the majority of the first two books. I ain't gonna lie and say I won't get annoyed cause I was pretty annoyed with Aiden in this book.
I was nervous with the story-line for this one. I thought it might be a bit boring and not that interesting. But this author completely surpassed all my doubts and gave me a steamy read with some good story. We get to meet Derrick, Whiskey's ex. He definitely made the story a bit more interesting.
This book was quite the rollercoaster ride. Many ups and downs with some crazy turns and in the end a bit of a twist. That ending! The unknown! This author definitely leaves you wanting more. I'm so happy I decided to wait until the series was finished to begin it. No way do I have the patience to wait to continue. So I am off to do just that. If you haven't gave this series a read I recommend you pick up dolls!
